I've spent the past month or so slowly shaking off the cobwebs and getting back into the groove of writing. Part of doing that has involved going back and reading a lot of my old work.
If I'm being honest with myself, some of it is garbage. But some of it is work I'm really proud of, work that came really close to being sold to some magazines and editors I really admire. I'm still not sure what to do with a lot of those stories that never quite made it, but I'm trying to figure that out.
In the meantime, I thought I'd put up a couple of stories that were sold that aren't available any more.
The first is a very short piece I wrote for the chapbook I edited when I was doing my degree. It probably doesn't count to call this a published piece, since I edited the book myself, but I like it. It's a PDF download, and it's called Language.
The second is a slightly longer story called Marionette. It was published in Cutaways, and I really like it. You can read it here.
