Hot Water Music are one of my favourite bands in the world. I fully intend my next tattoo to have something to do with them. So I'm super excited that they're back with a new 7" - their first recorded new material in 7 years - and that they've put the new songs up online.
The first is called The Fire, The Steel, The Tread. It reminds me a lot of Chuck's solo stuff, which is very folk-y and stripped down, but it's still got that signature Hot Water Music sound. I like it, and I imagine with a few more listens I'll have it firmly stuck in my head. You can listen to it here.
The second is called Up To Nothing. It's short and sweet and immediately sounds like Hot Water Music. It's obvious that the guys have mellowed a bit as they get older, but the intensity is still there and Chris and Chuck have still got voices that I'd kill for. You'll have to 'like' them on Facebook to get a listen, but it's worth it. Check it out over here.
I can't wait to get hold of this 7". Digital releases go live on the 2nd of August, with preorders for the physical product starting on the 15th for a release date of the 29th, and you can find out more on their Facebook.
